โฑ๏ธ Email Header Hop-Time Analyzer

Analyze 'Received' headers to calculate the time taken between mail server hops.

โ„น๏ธ About Email Header Hop-Time Analyzer

The Email Header Hop-Time Analyzer is a diagnostic tool designed for system administrators to troubleshoot delayed mail delivery.

Every time an email passes through a Mail Transfer Agent (MTA), that server stamps the email with a Received: header containing a timestamp. By parsing these timestamps in chronological order, we can identify exactly which server in the chain was responsible for holding onto the message and causing a delay.

๐Ÿ“– How to use Email Header Hop-Time Analyzer

  1. 1. Obtain the full, raw email headers from the delayed message.
  2. 2. Paste the headers into the text box below.
  3. 3. Click 'Run Tool' to generate a chronological timeline of the email's journey.

โ“ Frequently Asked Questions

Why does a hop show a negative delay?

This happens when the receiving server's clock is behind the sending server's clock. It indicates a Time Synchronization (NTP) issue on one of the servers, not time travel!
